How to Create a Watcher in Selki

The Watcher creation form is where you begin monitoring a domain for credential exposures within Selki’s platform. Watchers are powerful tools that allow Selki to detect if credentials linked to your domain appear in infostealer logs.

This article walks you through the process of creating a Watcher and highlights key rules and best practices.

Creating A Watcher

Step-by-Step: Creating a Watcher

1. Name (Required)

  • This is a label to help you identify your Watcher.
  • Tip: Keep it short and clear — typically your organization or brand name.
  • Limit: Maximum 256 characters.

Example: Copper Mining Company

2. Domain Monitoring (Required)

Enter the domain you want to monitor for credential leaks.

⚠️ Important Rules:

🔐 You must own the domain you're entering. Domains will be reviewed by the Selki admin team before monitoring starts.

Plan Features (Pro Plan Only)

If you're on the Pro Plan, your Watcher includes:

  • Real-Time Alerts: Immediate notifications when new threats are detected
  • Threat Detection: Instant visibility into credential exposures linked to your domain
  • Domain Monitoring: Ongoing analysis of infostealer logs for exposed employee or customer data

What Happens After You Click "Create Watcher"?

  • The Watcher is created in an Inactive state.
  • Selki’s team will review your domain ownership.
  • Once approved, the Watcher will be marked as Active.
  • From that point on, you will begin to see compromised credentials associated with the domain.
If the domain remains Inactive, no threats or credentials will be shown.

Plans & Limits

  • Basic Plan: Includes 1 Watcher
  • To monitor more than one domain, you’ll need to upgrade to a Pro Plan or higher.
