How To Export Threats
Exporting Threat Data from the Dashboard
You may wish to export threat data from the threat table. This feature allows you to extract and analyze threat data filtered by status, and save it in different formats such as CSV, Excel, or PDF.
Step-by-Step: Exporting Open Threats
1. Review Export Summary
Before exporting, the system provides a clear summary of your data:
- Total Threats: The total number of threats detected (e.g., 18,530).
- Open: Number of unresolved or currently active threats.
- Closed: Number of resolved or mitigated threats.
Check Active Filters
Below the summary, you’ll see a section labeled “Active Filters.”
This ensures you're only exporting what’s relevant. In this case:
- Status: Open is selected — meaning only open threats will be included in the export.
To change filters, return to the main monitoring dashboard and adjust your search criteria.
Select File Type
Choose the format best suited for your needs:
Best for presentations or sharing with stakeholders. Clean formatting, not meant for editing.
- CSV (Selected in this example)
Ideal for spreadsheets, data analysis, and importing into other tools. Compatible with Excel, Google Sheets, etc.
- Excel (XLSX)
Provides full Excel functionality, including formatting and formulas.
Export
Click the “Export as CSV” button (or select a different format first, if needed). The export will begin immediately and your file will be available for download.
Use CSV if you plan to filter, sort, or create charts in Excel or a BI tool.
Use PDF for quick snapshots to share with management.
Exports reflect the current filter settings — be sure to review them before exporting.
Export Completed
Once the export is complete, you’ll see a confirmation message like this:
Here’s what the confirmation means:
- Export Completed Successfully: Your request was processed without errors.
- Exported 194 threat records: This is the number of records included in the export, based on your current filter (e.g., Status: Open).
- File Name: The CSV file is automatically named using a timestamp and unique identifier.
What Can You Do Next?
You have two options:
- Download File
Click the green Download File button to save the file to your device immediately.
- View in Downloads
Click this to open your Downloads panel found under your profile settings in the top left hand corner, where you can find past exports and download them again if needed.
Where to Use the Exported File
The CSV file can be opened with:
- Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet tool
- BI tools like Power BI or Tableau
- Custom analysis pipelines or reporting tools
Each row represents a threat record with its associated details, such as threat type, status, detection date, and more (depending on your platform’s data model).
Troubleshooting
If the export doesn’t complete or the file won’t download:
- Make sure your filters are valid and return results.
- Check your internet connection.
- Refresh the page and try again.
- Reach out to [Support] if the issue persists.
